Minha Casa de Geriba

With just five rooms and parking for five cars, Minha Casa de Geribá is a simple pousada that feels like home in Geribá, Armação dos Búzios. The owners, a couple, and their little one Florian welcome guests with real care and attention. The kitchen is shared, and the decor is simple but very tasteful. Photos around the rooms and common area show scenes from the different countries they’ve visited. A pleasant surprise. Make yourself at home in Geribá.

Sadly, this wasn’t a good experience. After an airline strike, I changed my reservation date and asked five days ahead whether that would be a problem. They said it was fine. When I arrived, they charged me for the rest of the stay, then told me the balcony room I’d booked for R 160 wasn’t available because of my date change. They put me in a regular room listed at R120 instead. I asked the owner the next day whether I’d be moved into the reserved room, and she said no. I then asked to be charged the R120 rate for the room I was given, not R160, but she refused, saying she was losing money because of my change. I felt this was handled very badly. They’d already charged me the full stay before telling me the balcony room wasn’t available, and I wasn’t given the choice to stay in a room I hadn’t asked for. They should have told me before I arrived so I could have accepted losing the reservation amount and found another place with the room I wanted. On the positive side, the beach location was good, the breakfast was delicious, and the owner’s sister, whose name I can’t remember, was super friendly and nice.

Carla and Júlio were incredibly welcoming, and the house has a great feel to it. It’s in a good location, just 150 meters from Geribá beach, and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. Well worth it.

The suites are spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the location is perfect. We were delighted with everything and very happy with the service. Highly recommend, and I’ll be back again!
