Numa Boa Hostel

Four years later, I came back and found the same friendly staff and little paradise in Búzios. I was here for my birthday six weeks after an earlier visit, and want to thank everyone for making it such a great day and for all the amenities. It’s a lovely place to spend a few days, with stylish rooms, some with private bathrooms, kitchens, dining rooms, and a bar serving delicious Caipirinha. There’s also a barbecue area, pool, and even a sauna spa.

There’s a lovely garden with loads of room, plus a pool, a TV with Netflix, and a pool table. This is one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. I rarely leave reviews, but Numa Boa deserves the praise. The staff feel like family, and it has everything a hostel should.

The facilities are beautiful, with a pool, jacuzzi, sauna, bbq, and bar. The owners are Argentinian, and there are usually several friendly volunteers. Mari, the owner’s mother, is hilarious and was a terrific host. I can’t wait to come back for her famous pizza. The hostel was originally the vacation home of a famous Brazilian footballer.

We booked four nights but arrived for check-in on the second night because our transfer from rio was late. The room was disgusting: mosquitos everywhere, a ceiling fan with blades falling apart, dust inside the cabinet and on top of the fan, and a very hot room. The blankets were a little dirty, as you can see in the photo, and far too warm for the room. The front desk lady was nice but couldn’t help. I tried contacting the owner and got no response. We left straight away for an Airbnb with no mosquitos. With Brazil having a dengue problem, sleeping in a room full of them didn’t feel safe. We chose this place because of its good 4.7 Google rating, but it wasn’t true at all.
