PortoBay Búzios

The shower and bathroom were grimy and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. Apart from that, it was a lovely stay: the staff were friendly and accommodating, and breakfast was a practical way to start the day. The hotel is well placed, fairly central in Buzios and close to lots of lovely beaches.

The kitchen staff made breakfast feel special, and the food was amazing. We’ll come back. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone after good food and a peaceful stay in Buszios.

I’m writing at 4 a.m. on my last night here because I can’t sleep. Every night, about 10 dogs wander around in front of and around the hotel, barking so much that sleeping is impossible. If you stay here, you probably won’t be able to sleep at night because of the dogs outside. Reception said they couldn’t do anything because they were strays. A few days ago I saw an employee feeding them, which may be why they keep hanging around. When the same dogs are there every night and guests can’t sleep, surely management can do something. I’m a dog person and have one myself, but I’m on vacation and paying a lot to stay here. Being unable to sleep is inexcusable. On arrival, we were given a different room from the junior suite we’d booked, and honestly it just looked sad. They moved us to our current room after we complained. The location is nice, but the hotel isn’t maintained as it should be, and I don’t see how it could be called a 4-star boutique hotel. The best part was breakfast and the employees. The kitchen staff made us feel welcome and were really nice and friendly; the employees in general were friendly and did their jobs well. I blame management for the dog situation.

The garden was lush, the pool was big and clean, and our spacious balcony looked out over the garden with the ocean in the distance. We had a wonderful stay in this gorgeous hotel, with beautiful surroundings, lovely interiors, great food, and amazing staff. The manager was extremely kind and helpful, and the catering and reception teams were just as lovely. We enjoyed the bar too. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
