The room’s view was spectacular, and the pool area was great. I had a big, comfortable king-size bed, and the cleaning staff did a really good job throughout my stay. Check-in was smooth, too. The gentleman at the front desk was gracious and very kind, and he returned the passport I’d accidentally left there, which I appreciated. Barlavento Suites deserves more recognition, and I’d recommend staying here.

The location is good, and the pool view is lovely, but there’s no service at the pool or bar. I had a poor stay and won’t come back. There are cheaper places in the same area that seem better. The hotel is old and needs refurbishment. They don’t serve breakfast because of COVID, although the surrounding hotels do. Rooms are cleaned only every two days, and you have to book a cleaning slot and wait for the cleaner, who is never on time. It wastes your day. The air conditioning is extremely old and noisy, and the sheets are worn grey and close to ripping.

Set on a hill, the place gets a steady breeze, so bring a sweater outside summer. It’s very clean and well organized, with a great view over Bones Beach. The parking area feels improvised, and breakfast didn’t impress me much. Still, it’s a good place to stay.

There’s a lovely view and good room service. The price is good, and the center, Rua das Pedras, and some beaches are nearby, around a 10-minute walk, though you do have to climb uphill.
