The staff were the standout: friendly, quick, and genuinely helpful. Breakfast had plenty to choose from, including a vegan table, and there was lots of hot water even at the sink. The air conditioning and WiFi in our room worked fine. The property itself felt old and worn, with parts of the rooms and grounds in need of serious attention. The pool area could use work too. It’s a large complex of rooms and chalets built on a hillside, so it may be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. I wouldn’t describe it as a boutique hotel. We didn’t hate Uni, but we won’t be back.

The setting is amazing, probably one of the best spots in Buzios, but the hotel itself is old and poorly maintained. Things are falling apart, and the service was awful. The restaurant was a disappointment, even the salad was badly done, and the pool was dirty. The rooms were dated, apart from the bathrooms, and the ground-floor ones were very noisy from the air conditioning units. Calling Uni a boutique hotel feels misleading. It’s more like an upgraded pousada, and at this price I wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of good places nearby for less. It felt like a scam.

There’s a balcony in every room, the internet is fast, and the TV has all the channels unlocked. The place is surrounded by nature and close to a private beach, so it’s a great spot to unwind or take a vacation. There’s also a restaurant for lunch and dinner, plus a spa, though that isn’t included in the room rate.

Breakfast was great, and the staff were excellent. The rooms could use renovation, though. The property is right by the beaches, but Unicornio could make more effort to clean up its section. I assume Buzios beaches are public, and the ones around town had litter too. Unicornio’s stretch wasn’t any worse than the others.
