Pousada L'etage

The center is just steps away, which is a great location. I wasn't happy with the room: it was small and had nowhere to put my belongings. The shower only gave cold water. Breakfast was okay, though more choices such as eggs would have been nice.

Jaime was a really attentive, welcoming host who shared all the information guests might need. The inn itself is simple but extremely cozy, and the rooms are simple too, with air conditioning and a mini-fridge in each one. Breakfast has plenty of variety and should suit most tastes. Location is a big plus: it's a one- or two-minute walk to Rua das Pedras, the areas around the center, Praia do Canto, Orla Bardot, and the main nearby restaurants and shops. You can get around the center on foot, and Uber to farther beaches is affordable and available at any hour.

The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The place is simple, but everything works, and breakfast is just right. They can make scrambled eggs fresh if you want. It's excellent value and very close to Rua das Pedras. One unexpected expense was paying by the hour to park on the street, 24 hours a day. The company staff who handle the payments offer much cheaper packages than paying hourly, and those let you park in other parts of the city without worrying about their "zona azul". Well worth it.

I stayed in suite 1, which was a good size, with a comfortable bed. The breakfast is simple but decent, the staff are functional, and the location is excellent. The shower gets hot and has good water flow. The fridge cools very well, and so does the air conditioner. The pousada space is practical, and it was excellent value for what I paid. There may be problems with centipedes, though I think that's common in the Região dos Lagos. Best not to open the drain all the way, haha. Bedding and towels aren't changed very often, but they explain that when you arrive and you can ask for a change. If you want the room cleaned, swept, or the trash taken out, I recommend asking.
