Pousada Solar Dos Navegantes

The bed was comfortable, though it was two single beds pushed together. The shower was hot and reception was friendly. We stayed in a front-facing room on the first floor. The room was very simple but spacious, and could do with some modernization. Breakfast had little variety. The old blackout curtain was too small for the window, so the sun woke us at 7 a.m., and it also left guests' privacy at risk when people passed by on the street. The stay met our needs very well, but we'll return to Búzios and stay somewhere else next time.

The scenery is a big part of the appeal here, with lovely greenery and an incredible view from a very quiet area. We felt completely at home with the Argentinian owners. The rooms were comfortable, the service was excellent, and breakfast was very good. They also offer complimentary coffee in the afternoon. A lovely spot to unwind, highly recommended.

The pool felt unsafe, with no protective bars, and the rooms had dirty, stained floors and a strong musty smell. The beds were old and the windows were faulty. Our arrival was unpleasant too: the owner's daughter, a teenager who seemed apathetic and bad-tempered, was in charge and treated the children badly. She didn't welcome or guide us, and got irritated when the kids played. I'd arranged everything over the phone with the owner, but he never showed up during our stay. A terrible experience. I wouldn't recommend it.

The room had a very good view, and the TV was new and worked well. The staff were nice, and the WiFi was good, though breakfast was simple. It was clean, but a lot of the fixtures seemed old: the outlets made poor contact, the bathroom shower enclosure leaked all over the floor, and the ceiling fan was noisy. The towels were rough, and some of the otherwise clean sheets had little holes. There's no parking, and with the stairs and poorly protected balconies, it doesn't seem suitable for children.
