Cottage Bahia Bungalow & Suites

Unfortunately, my stay wasn’t good. The room smelled strongly stale when we arrived, and there were no towels available for us to shower, which made things uncomfortable right away. The internet didn’t work at all, and the room TV stayed out of order for the entire stay. Breakfast was disappointing, with very few choices, and flies landed on the food, which was unpleasant and raised hygiene concerns. Some staff members were arrogant when I asked about the problems. The inn says reception is open 24 hours, but there were several times when no one was available. The place has potential, but needs a lot of improvement in organization, room maintenance, and especially customer service.

The staff were excellent, and there’s someone on guard through the night. It’s a quiet, peaceful place if you want to get away from the city rush. The nearby beaches, Pitinga and Parracho, are great, and the pool is a good size and depth. It’s cleaned daily, though leaves from the surrounding plants keep getting into it, and it closes at 7 p.m. Getting there is a bit complicated, and the Google location was wrong until I corrected it. You’ll need your own transport since the beaches and the center, Rua do Mucugê, are a little far away. Our room was dark, which made it cozy and kind of romantic, but finding personal belongings at night was tricky. There are lots of insects around because the property is somewhat isolated and surrounded by greenery, so bring repellent if you have allergies or hate mosquito bites.

The staff were attentive, but the stay was a negative experience. The car has to be parked on a very dark street, and the worn building has ordinary, dim rooms. The internet didn’t work, so neither did the TV, and Vivo coverage was very poor. It left you feeling cut off from the world. There’s no room service, the minibar is empty, and you can’t even buy water there. You have to get everything at a market and bring it back. Breakfast was basic, with the same choices every day.

We stayed for four days, and one room had a really strong urine smell on the first day. They fixed it after we complained, but the rest of the stay still fell short. There was no shampoo or conditioner, our room smelled musty and was dark, and reception wasn’t open around the clock, just a bell that kept ringing. On the last day, they didn’t replace the towels either. The hotel is on the Rota Ecológica, which can make getting around quite difficult if you don’t have a car.
