We found it easy to get to the historic center from here by car or van, and it’s close to the beach. At low tide you can walk there comfortably, and it’s much quieter than Mucugê. There were a few beach stalls when we went in January. The place itself is charming and well cared for, with a varied breakfast and friendly service. The air conditioning worked perfectly and the shower was satisfactory, though the mattress really needs replacing.

The rooms are spacious and peaceful, and the breakfast was fantastic, especially Eli’s delicious roasted banana. Peter was also a huge help when the ferry strike caused transport problems. The inn is near quiet beaches in Arraial. If you don’t have a car, vans pass right outside for the farther beaches and the town center. They cost just 5.00 and are well worth it.
