Villa Handam

I was disappointed after seeing the good Booking.com rating. Breakfast was sparse, without basics like requeijão or cereal. You had to ask for eggs to be made, and leftover cake was served again the next day with no fresh option. The cold cuts were only mozzarella and ham, set out in tiny portions, so we kept having to ask for more. Every set of bed linens that was changed had holes. The bathroom was small and the inside of the toilet bowl was dark. The location and service were good, but the rest left a lot to be desired and didn't feel worth it.

The pool was great, and breakfast was fresh and good quality every day. We stayed for three nights during Carnival, and the team was helpful when we asked to switch rooms because of a personal issue. The inn is very well placed, about a four-minute walk from the van stop, Rua Mucugê, and Broadway. Breakfast only starts at 8, though, which could be awkward if you're heading out early for a tour.

It's a peaceful street close to the center, though a little far from the beach. Breakfast was really good and everything else was great, apart from the small bathroom and bed linens that smelled stored away to me.

Breakfast was excellent, and the room cleaning was adequate: they changed towels, emptied the trash, and replenished the paper. I did see a cockroach, which might be related to the nearby restaurant and the area. What made the atmosphere uncomfortable was hearing comments from both guests and a staff member that weren't gay-friendly. I think they should work on inclusion and harmony around this, out of respect. 🌈
