Brisas do Farol - Aluguel Economico

We had the worst lodging experience we’ve ever had. When we arrived, we were told that leaving our bags before check-in required a fee, payable only in cash or by PIX to the employee’s personal account. That already seemed strange. The first room smelled very strong, was unbearably hot, and seemed poorly cleaned. I’m pregnant and became very unwell from the heat during the night. We asked to move to a room with air conditioning, and they agreed only if we paid an extra R$130. When we went to switch rooms, no one was at reception, and we found an employee lying in a room using her phone. The replacement room had its own problems: the air conditioner didn’t work and there was a strong smell of urine. During a phone call, my husband heard the owners say something disrespectful along the lines of, “These people are bothering us again.” After a lot of insisting, they moved us once more, to a dirty room with hair in the bathroom. We were then told we had to leave the next morning, even though we had four more days booked. We ended up leaving four days early. It was deeply frustrating and felt like a complete disregard for guests. We don’t recommend it.

Less than an hour before midnight on New Year’s Eve, water started leaking through the ceiling onto the bed and our belongings. It completely disrupted the evening. We told reception, but nothing was done. We moved what we could off the floor and left so we wouldn’t be crying in the room. When we came back, it was flooded, and nobody was at reception, just a phone number. We called and were told there was no other room or spare mattress. The manager was contacted but didn’t solve anything, and no one even helped remove the water. It wasn’t raining in the city. The room had already been awful from the start of our stay, over Réveillon 2025. There was an unbearable mold smell as soon as I arrived. The shower barely ran, and with so little water coming out, it became extremely hot when switched on, so we had to take cold showers. The mold smell was so strong at bedtime that I could only sleep because I’d brought my own pillow. In the morning, there was a horrible sewage smell, and the toilet was leaking, leaving a constant stench in the room. After we went to the beach, we came back to find no water in our room, though water was working in the other areas of the accommodation and in neighboring businesses. We had to bathe using buckets. We complained at reception, but nothing was done. The next day, people were working on the pipes. When we returned, there was still no water in the room. Once it came back, it wasn’t fit to use. We reported it again, and once more nothing was done. They didn’t even offer us drinking water. The checkout time the following day was noon, but around 8 a.m. people started making noise above our room, so we couldn’t rest. They knew we had to drive for more than 10 hours. During the trip we had to stop several times to sleep because we hadn’t been able to get even a decent amount of rest during our stay. The whole place was one of the worst I’ve ever been to. One star is already too generous, and I don’t recommend it. After the leak, we contacted the provided number; they said no other room was available, and the manager couldn’t resolve the issue.

The building is spacious and in a great location, so it could be a very good place. The management, though, is completely inadequate, and I don’t recommend staying here. The corridors smelled strongly and unpleasantly, guests smoked marijuana in rooms despite signs prohibiting it, and the power kept going out. It was clear to me that the guests weren’t being looked after. I stayed at Pousada Brisas do Farol for seven days in December 2025. When we arrived to check in, nobody was at reception. We could only get inside because a guest leaving opened the door, which uses a code. We waited a long time for help until an older woman arrived and said she was responsible only for cleaning. We told her we had a reservation and would be early, before the official 2 p.m. check-in, and were willing to pay any extra fee. She said the apartment was still dirty, would clean it, and would leave the key at reception. We went to the beach and returned to an extremely dirty apartment that looked as if it hadn’t been cleaned at all. There were no basics like detergent or a floor cloth. The toilet was blocked with feces, and the door was completely jammed and wouldn’t open or close properly. Trying to reach management about repairs was almost impossible. Nobody answered calls, and WhatsApp replies took hours. Messages sent in the morning weren’t answered until around 5 p.m. After many attempts, I reached the owner, Carlos, who was arrogant, rude, and disrespectful, and treated us with contempt. He said he would contact someone at reception and then try to get maintenance. Only after a lot of effort did anyone come to inspect the blocked toilet and faulty door. Things got worse when we returned from the beach to find the inn closed by inspectors because it didn’t have an operating permit. The inspector said they had been trying to reach the owner for more than six months without success, which was why the property was shut down. If I’d read the Google reviews before booking, I would never have stayed here. Looking more closely, most were negative and matched exactly what I experienced. I’m leaving this review about my stay so other guests don’t go through the same thing.

On our last night, after a three-night stay, the ceiling in our room collapsed onto one of us and injured my friend. The owner was informed but never came by. We wanted to leave right away, and my friend had to be taken to the hospital. The owner never offered to pay for medication or transport. It’s a shame our time in Arraial do Cabo ended this way. The place had a constant musty smell, a broken shower, too few utensils, and a bathroom light that didn’t work. There wasn’t even a coat rack on the wall. Nobody was at reception during the day, except for short periods. I absolutely can’t recommend it.
