It's a historic place in the village, and the view across the cape is hard to beat. This is the best bed and breakfast in Arraial do Cabo. The vantage point is useful for checking weather and navigation conditions, which helps you choose the best time and spot to explore the paradise beaches along the coast.

Awful stay! The house is difficult to reach because of the steep hill. The gates all use old-fashioned keys and locks that seem easy to break, and the walls are low. Most of the many plants were yellowing and poorly cared for. Weeds were everywhere, making places where disease-carrying mosquitoes and sandflies could breed. The pool was dirty and milky throughout. Our guest suite had old beds and a poorly cleaned floor, with mosquitoes all over the room. The fan was very old and looked like it could fall on someone's head at any moment. There were no closets or hangers, and the only mirror was in the bathroom. The bathroom had no proper shower enclosure, just a plastic curtain, and its bidet splashed water everywhere. The window opened onto the overgrown parking area with its mosquito spots. There was no air conditioning, and the ceiling was filthy. Basic supplies and facilities were either restricted or shared. Toilet paper was rationed, and when we asked for another roll, the host said the whole property had run out. Towels were never changed and smelled questionable. The only mini fridge was shared, and we were allowed to put in only things sold there, so we couldn't even store our own water. The TV area was shared and guests had to take turns. The host was often absent, slow to answer messages, and didn't take calls. There was no room service, so guests had to clean every day. Our trash bin was full and we were made to carry the rubbish outside, which was humiliating. Even getting a simple piece of cutlery took a huge effort and too long. There was no upkeep. I didn't see anyone cleaning the common areas or pool, and the house was dirty. Breakfast was slow and limited, with guests served at the tables. The bread was stale and limp, the cake portions tiny, and the ham and cheese seemed questionable in terms of hygiene. There was only a limited amount of black coffee, and everything else was limited too. The containers for powdered milk and sugar had the wrong labels. I went to sweeten my juice without noticing and put powdered milk in it. Food wasn't replenished. They served two tiny pieces of cake, added two more, and that was it. We asked for granola, but it never came, so we had to ask other guests for some. Another humiliating moment. With everything limited or shared, it felt like we'd rented a hostel at inn prices, and even worse than a hostel. The listing was completely misleading. We planned to stay four days, but gave up and requested a refund from Booking. I'd never return and wouldn't recommend it to anyone!

It brought back warm memories of being kids at our grandparents' house. Such a lovely place, and I'll definitely return!
