The place is beautiful, and the views, water, and local beaches are all top notch. Breakfast was very good too. But the service let us down: several shared areas weren’t cleaned, and after rainy days the benches and loungers in common spaces and outside the suites were left wet and dirty. We asked for the room to be cleaned in the morning, but nobody came until that evening. For several days, possums climbing around in the ceiling woke us up. Jesus. We also had a hard time getting an Uber to or from the pousada and downtown. The service issues and possums really brought the stay down, though both seem like things that could be fixed.

The view really was beautiful, and the employees were friendly and courteous throughout our stay. The team also offered us two drinks to make up for the suite switch, which was kind, but it didn’t meet the expectations created by our booking. We’d chosen the place on Instagram after seeing photos of the advertised suite, but when we arrived we were sent to a different one. It was a serious mistake that nearly spoiled our trip, especially since we’d arranged childcare to travel on the dates when that suite was supposed to be available. We also lost time at check-in trying to sort it out. The bathroom was missing basics like towels, soap, and some essential utensils. Construction noise started before 8 a.m. and badly affected our rest. They offered us the stone house instead, but it wouldn’t work for us because it didn’t have a whirlpool tub. The tub in our suite had no bath salts, either, only a liquid soap that wouldn’t even foam, and we’d considered that part of celebrating our wedding. It was a pleasant enough stay, but fell short of what we’d hoped for on such a special occasion.
