We spent five days there last week in January 2021, as a group of friends. The place has clearly seen better days. The bedrooms were dirty, with cockroaches and other insects often around, and a grimy veil above the bed had dead insects on it. One person’s three person room had a box bed with no mattress. The bathroom water was shut off overnight, which was a nightmare for one of us who felt ill. The owner offered twice to serve breakfast early at 6 a.m., but it never happened. On one occasion, the breakfast table and dirty dishes were left in the living area until 3 p.m. Sadly, one of us also had money and a bra stolen.

The animals were lovely, but the pousada was the dirtiest place I’d ever stayed. It’s far from everything, and there weren’t good transport options.

Atins is a strange place, but it’s a good starting point for exploring the lencois before heading to bareninias. This is the only posada in Atins with a standard close to an international one.
