The setting and style of the hotel were lovely, with private rooms surrounded by nature. Lunch and dinner tasted really good, and breakfast had a great selection that was replenished quickly. Some parts of the stay left us confused and uncomfortable. The bed and pillows were uncomfortable; the sheets were clean, but the pillows were old and stained. The next day’s room cleaning was incomplete: they changed the trash but didn’t clean the toilet or bring fresh towels. We were also left wondering why breakfast and coffee seemed unavailable when we first asked, then appeared shortly afterward. We needed to leave early and asked for breakfast or at least a sandwich to take with us. At first they said no, but agreed after another guest insisted. The night before leaving, we were told breakfast wouldn’t be ready before 8 am, though it was available around 7:10 the next morning. We had asked for coffee at 7 and were told it wasn’t ready, only to find it shortly after. We speak as foreign guests: if you speak Portuguese, you’ll be fine, but we felt somewhat unwelcome. The area seemed generally reserved toward tourists. On our first day we waited an hour for a sandwich and salad, while people who ordered later received larger meals first. It gave us the impression that tourists weren’t a priority. They kindly agreed to wash our clothes and let us set the price at 100 real. We said we were willing to pay more depending on the service, but some stains were still there when the clothes came back, and they didn’t smell of detergent. At our last dinner, we pointed to the items on the menu to avoid confusion, but got a different, more expensive dish. At checkout, the bill was €50 higher than we expected, so check your charges carefully. The hotel itself is very good, but foreign guests should double-check requests and charges. Sometimes staff say yes without fully understanding, so Google Translate and confirming more than once may help.
