Palace Hotel Barretos

What a night we had at this hotel. The bed in our first room was dirty and full of trash, then the shower fell down while I was bathing. We moved rooms, but the air conditioner there wouldn’t turn on. I asked for my money back and the man said he couldn’t refund it, which made me furious. We ended up in another room with one double bed for three people. I don’t know what’s going on with the people running this place. They can see it’s making money, but they won’t invest in it. Put in a quiet central air system so people can sleep. My husband asked if there was a room with central air, and the man said it’s hard to find a house with central air in Brazil.

The rooms were clean, but this hotel really needs renovating. In my room, termites had eaten away a good part of the window, so we couldn’t open it. I stayed here at the same time last year and was very disappointed this time. In the morning I asked about breakfast, and the receptionist told me it was already 9:30 and there wasn’t any left. I felt misled. He asked, “Haha, nobody told you?” I said no, nobody had. As far as I knew, breakfast ran until 10. I had to get in the car and find breakfast for my family somewhere else. I won’t come back because of the disregard and the missing breakfast. I wish the hotel luck, because that seems to be all they can count on.

I had to wash the air conditioner filter or I wouldn’t have been able to sleep, and the unit was extremely noisy. The bed linen also gave me an allergic reaction.

The rooms were clean and tidy, and the staff were kind and polite. I really enjoyed my stay, especially for the price.
