Vila Chalé

The only good parts were the service and the setting in the middle of nature. The place itself is pretty, but the management was terrible, with little care for the inside of the chalets or the grounds outside. We stayed as a couple in Chalé Santo Dumont nº 20, and I wouldn't recommend it or go back. As soon as we entered, there was a strong musty smell. It looked abandoned and was very dusty, which was a big problem for me because I have sinusitis. The sofa smelled of cigarettes, the bedsheet had a cigarette burn mark, the toilet was clogged, the shower water wouldn't get hot, and the bathroom sink was leaking.

The room was falling apart, and it felt abandoned, with no basic maintenance. There were bugs in the room, and the state of the place made the stay uncomfortable and unsanitary. The towels were visibly dirty, the pillows smelled unbearably of urine, and the dirty blankets were also burned and in awful condition. On top of that, the room was completely moldy, smelled strongly of damp, and had an absurd amount of dust. It showed a complete lack of cleaning and care. It's unacceptable for a hotel to offer rooms in this condition. I can't recommend it at all. This was easily one of the worst experiences I've had.

I was so horrified that I didn't even have breakfast. The windows were moldy too, and there was a slug in the bathroom. I can understand that with woods around the place, but it still points to a lack of care for the room. The room smelled strongly of mold. Anyone with rhinitis or asthma should avoid it completely. The towels and sheets were stained, and the bathroom was in unacceptable condition, with urine splashes from another guest, as if it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. Everything smelled moldy, including the pillow. It felt like total neglect and disrespect for guests. I don't understand how a place like this is still operating. Worst place I've ever stayed, an extremely unpleasant experience. I don't recommend it at all.

I went in with low expectations after reading the comments, but I really liked the service and the place. They were attentive and added an extra bed to our room for my daughters. There's a market nearby, and breakfast is simple but enough. The pool wasn't suitable for swimming, though maybe that was because of the rain. A few small things need repairs, but the setting is rustic, so they didn't bother me. I'll come back.
