Ibis Belem Aeroporto

The bathroom was moldy, there was no Wi-Fi, and we had just one towel for two guests. The bed only had a top sheet and no blanket. To start with, my reservation had been canceled when I arrived, so I had to redo everything. Very disappointing.

The location was handy for my 12 hour layover, since I wanted somewhere to rest instead of waiting in the airport. But the facilities are old: the desk chair was wobbly, the internet never worked, and the air-conditioning barely functioned. Staff also seemed uninformed. At check-in I was wrongly told that the nearest evening food was at the mall, not in the hotel, so I missed dinner before heading back to the airport.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was okay and reasonably clean. I only booked because my flight from Europe arrived late and I needed to sleep before the next leg. At €70 pn, it was very expensive for such a basic room, and I would have expected a small bottle of water, but there wasn't one. Check-out was slow, with one receptionist trying to handle lots of people leaving. It was okay as a means to an end, and I'd stay again if I had to.

The walls are so thin you can hear loud people in the corridor, which makes it hard to rest. My room also seemed unprepared when I arrived: no towels, and only a very thin sheet on the bed, so I got cold at night. For an old, smelly hotel in that condition, the price is outrageous. I wouldn't recommend it, even for one night. Definitely not worth what you pay.
