Radisson Hotel Belém Maiorana Jr

Some of the service and staff were outstanding, and some were just average. On two occasions, while paying for snacks in my room, a hotel representative said they didn’t have change. I felt pressured to leave the rest with them. I don’t mind tipping, but I want it to be my choice. I was also a little disappointed by the breakfast selection. The customer service from some people was wonderful, but that wasn’t everyone. If you’re coming here, learn as much Portuguese as you can beforehand.

The pool and gym are unavailable indefinitely, and Hotels.com didn’t mention that. Also, the bottled water kept in my fridge was charged at checkout under “taxes and services.” The room didn’t say the water wasn’t complimentary, and reception didn’t tell guests either. It wasn’t a huge charge, but guests should be informed. On the positive side, the staff were friendly and professional, the price was good value, and breakfast was abundant, tasty, and varied.

The only thing I liked was the breakfast. There’s black mold all over the place, and it’s easy to see. The hotel needs major renovations. Only one elevator was working, so you had to wait ages and then try to get in when it was completely full. The bar is okay, but overpriced. The pool is closed indefinitely, and that wasn’t made clear on the booking website. Overall, it was a pretty bad stay.

This was my third stay at Radisson Hotel Maiorana Belem, and I’ll certainly stay again. The hotel is in a great location, and the operations manager was excellent. The breakfast crew were clearly service-oriented. The hosts repeatedly went above and beyond to sort out my issues, helping arrange my Covid 29 test, airline reservations, restaurant reservations, and recommendations. The service was outstanding.
