Mercure Belo Horizonte Savassi Hotel

The breakfast buffet was really good, especially the "pão de queso," and the restaurant staff were phenomenal, warm, friendly, and very professional. That's rare in service these days. The hotel is in a quiet but central spot. We had a good stay and I'd come back, and I highly recommend it. My only complaints are that there was no fitted sheet, so the mattress was always exposed, and the towels were old and dingy. Those are cosmetic issues the management should sort out quickly.

The rooms were very nice, with good linens, and the hotel was clean with plenty of parking. Staff were friendly, spoke some English, and were very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent, and the pool was nice. I'll stay at the Mercure in Savassi again.

I’d booked a room with breakfast and checked at the desk, where they said it wasn’t included. A couple of days later, I found out it actually was 🤡

The staff were friendly, but their English was limited and I don’t speak Portuguese. The room, though, was filthy and run down. Dirt had gathered along the walls and in the corners, and the old bathroom had lime residue all over the glass doors. I’d just arrived from overseas and was exhausted, so I tried to nap. Then I saw red and brown stains on the duvet, which had no sheet beneath it. I threw it off the bed and used towels to cover myself instead; they seemed cleaner. I considered complaining at reception, but figured the language barrier would make it hard to explain. After a short rest, I showered and found no shower gel, while the shampoo and conditioner dispensers were empty. The toilet barely flushed, either. Even a small piece of toilet paper took several flushes to clear. I’ve rarely had a stay this disgusting. I should have left right away, as I’ve done only twice before, but I was in Brasil for just one night and terribly tired. I’ll never book here again, and wouldn’t stay even for free.
