We ended up changing hotels. The room photos had made it look much better than it was, there was no mosquito net, and the minibar was empty, without even a bottle of water. We were also put in a room with a connecting door to another one. When we asked about upgrading, they said the hotel was full, yet the pool, restaurant, garden, and the rest of the property all seemed deserted. They don't speak English, never replied to my email, and didn't offer a ride to the port like other hotels do.

The beach right outside was lovely. At high tide it turns into a warm, inviting bay, and in the morning there's about 5 km of sand for a safe, comfortable walk or run. The neighborhood felt quiet and secure, with mostly birds and waves for company. The hotel transfers to and from the reception were punctual and included in the rate. The whole stay felt like being at a family beach farm, with professional service that still felt personal and welcoming. Our room was spacious, comfortable, fresh-smelling, and had good fittings and new linens. The team looked after us so well, especially Luane, who was attentive from our arrival through checkout, along with the breakfast and restaurant staff. Breakfast was generous, with fresh, healthy options; the pool bar had tasty snacks, cold drinks, and fun cocktails. We also had a well-made dinner at a fair price for the service. I also had a massage with Kati, who's been working at the hotel for years. She was lovely to talk to, and her approach was very professional. I had a charming, thoroughly successful stay at the paradise of 5a praia. I'll be back and recommend it to my friends.
