O Céu de Boipeba

The views and tropical surroundings are stunning, and the rooms are beautiful. I also really enjoyed the breakfast. The design is lovely inside and out, though the rooms could have been cleaner. Getting here takes some effort. The unpaved path can turn muddy in the rain, so backpacks are easier to manage than wheeled luggage. A heavy pack is still a challenge, but if you’re prepared for the climb, the place is a real treat.

The rooms in the separate building are cleverly laid out, with a front glass wall that keeps them private. You can sleep with the curtains open and wake to the sunrise, and there’s even a bathtub outside on the varanda. Breakfast on the main building’s terrace became a lovely daily ritual. You order the food and drinks, and both the choice and quality were great. That building sits among lush greenery on a hill, facing the sunset. Sunset draws visitors from outside the hotel for cocktails, while guests get priority for tables. Just let the staff know earlier in the day. Getting there means climbing a dirt road. It wasn’t difficult for us, though the signs aren’t great and finding the way on the first try can be hit and miss. We loved the place and everyone there, and we’ll be back! Marcus & Kecia

Boipeba was such a relaxing stay, with breathtaking views across the island. I had the best time and highly recommend it. 🧡

The staff were warm and attentive, with helpful tips for food and activities, plus contacts for boat trips and day excursions. Some staff spoke English, which helped if you don’t speak Portuguese. The food, juices, and cocktails were all great. Breakfast is included, unlimited, and served from 8-10am. The menu’s small, but everything we tried was tasty and made with high quality ingredients. Each room has a spacious private balcony with ocean views, a table, chairs, and a hammock. Some of the larger rooms also have an outdoor bathtub, positioned so the balconies can’t see in. There’s a shower inside every room too. The rooms could use more hanging space for clothes, and screens on the windows and balcony doors would let in a breeze without mosquitoes. There is a mosquito net around each bed, though, and those small things didn’t spoil our stay. It’s a lovely spot for sunset, and people come up for drinks and dinner then. If you’re visiting in the busy season and want dinner, book a table. There are just six rooms, but the bar and restaurant are open to non-guests too. Getting to Céu means a hike up a hill, along an uneven sandy path that doesn’t work well with roller bags. If you have several bags or large luggage, you can hire someone at the dock to carry them for R$15-20 per bag. Once you arrive, it’s well worth the walk. Downtown is 7-10 minutes away on foot, and the nearest beaches take a little longer.
