Pousada Ajubá

The breakfast and lunch were both top quality, and the whole team made us feel welcome. The pousada itself was excellent. It’s five minutes from the first beach, where you’ll find the excellent Caranguejo da Teresa kiosk.

The rooms are spacious, and the place is about 300 m from the sand at the fourth beach. It’s quiet and away from the crowds at the first beaches, with transport available to get to the center. The distance also makes for a lovely walk toward either the center or the fifth beach. There’s a village nearby with a small market and bakery. Two very good cooks take turns from morning until 9 pm, serving regional dishes at prices that are a little below average. Breakfast is standard, though the local sweets are tempting. The team is polite and friendly, and the inn delivers what it promises. You might want to avoid rooms near the pool, though the pool bar closes at 9 pm.

The team were so welcoming and looked after all the details, including help with the stay and local tours. Adauto is a gentleman, the kitchen women are fantastic, and barão is the soul of the place. The kitchen deserves a mention of its own: breakfast was fresh, generous, and made to order, and there are also à la carte meals. I loved the shrimp bobó and coconut ice cream with cocada. The fourth beach is beautiful and peaceful, and I recommend walking along the sand to the center. The pousada is close to the beach and away from downtown bustle, so it’s very calm. Getting there is difficult, but the daily transport service helps. The pool is wonderful, and the room is spacious and very good, with the essentials, though it could use a little maintenance.

The food was one of our favorite parts: delicious, plentiful, and reasonably priced. Breakfast was tasty, and after a day at the beach, the warm pool was waiting for us. The staff were so welcoming, especially Sr Adauto and Barão, and they helped us with local tours and recommendations. Ajuba pousada is simple but very cozy, a great choice if you want peace away from the nightlife. The fourth beach is one of Morro’s prettiest. The pousada’s car runs to the village at set times, which was really helpful during our stay. We enjoyed it and hope to come back!
