Pousada Minha Louca Paixao

The location near the restaurants and bars is probably the best in Morro, and the pool and its bar are great. The restaurant is also the best in town, with fresh, very tasty food and a great breakfast. I might go back, but some problems really bothered me and brought my rating down to three stars. This could easily have been a five-star review. We booked two rooms, an oceanfront room for two adults and a garden room for two adults and two children. The garden room looked nothing like the website photos: it was dark, small, full of bugs, and claustrophobic. We were able to move to another room like our oceanfront one, but had to pay the full price difference. It was worth it, because staying in that garden room would have been miserable. The replacement room was very noisy, though. A delivery boat parked in front of it every day at 5 a.m. and woke us up. It's pricey for the island, even if it isn't an ultra-expensive hotel. I didn't like being charged 5 BRL per chocolate, per day, after they were placed on our beds, or how much control there was around beach towels. Service at the restaurant and pool bar could also be better. The staff were very nice, but orders took ages. Even when we were the only people by the pool, one drink took 30 minutes. I wanted to give useful feedback so management can make this a solid five-star place.

We love this Pousada so much that we've just booked our third year in a row. We considered trying somewhere else this time, but chose to come back for another wonderful week instead. The rooms are lovely, the staff are friendly, and the food is delicious. The location is perfect, with two terrific pools, a short walk to 2nd or 3rd Beach, and an easy walk up into town for shopping or seeing the sights. It's become our favorite resort or hotel on Morro, and we can't wait to return.

The breakfast is outstanding, and the staff are very friendly. The hotel is in a great location, and the upstairs pool has a lovely view. Go enjoy a cocktail there. A couple of things could be better. The room walls are smeared with mosquitoes, and the staff don't tell you what activities are happening at the hotel, so you have no idea unless you ask. A few times there weren't enough beach towels. A hotel at this level should have one for every guest.

We were impressed with the food once it arrived. We ordered the cilantro fish with potatoes and the filé mignon with saffron risotto. Both tasted great, though the fish was a little dry, perhaps because we'd asked for it without salt, and the steak was more done than I'd requested. The table took a while to get cleaned, and it took ages for someone to take our order after we arrived late on a Friday and waited a few minutes to be seated. Maybe they were short staffed. The live music added a nice atmosphere without being too loud. I'd definitely recommend it.
