Pousada Morro Tropical

I'd read the reviews before traveling and got nervous, but once I saw the room I'd booked, I was quite satisfied. This was my second stay at the pousada, and I had a wonderful time.

The location is the only good thing about this pousada. I hated the rest of it. My husband is 69, and they put us on the top floor, up a narrow, steep, uncovered staircase. It rained at night and the steps were soaking wet by morning. I asked to move rooms, but they didn't switch us until Monday. The minibar was rusty inside. For breakfast I only ate the ham and cheese sandwich, because the cake and cookies seemed like they'd been in the fridge for a week. The cups were scratched and cracked acrylic, and the ones they used were greasy. Disposable cups ran out on Monday and they said they wouldn't replace them. The room photos were misleading, and the breakfast photo was misleading too. This place should be shut down and sued.

The room was tiny, with only the bed and a small shelf for all our luggage, plus a single wall hook for hanging clothes. When shut up, it developed a musty smell. In the rain, getting to the rooms means going up a huge uncovered staircase and getting soaked. Some rooms have no window at all, and where there is one, people walking past can see inside. The bathroom was basic and had broken fixtures. General cleanliness wasn't good.

Right in the center of Morro, with great value for the money. The breakfast area is excellent.
