Pousada Sossego Boipeba

Henrique and his team are absolute sunshines, and the pousada has a clear eco-friendly feel without making a big deal of it. There are local plants, birds, and small wild animals around the grounds; breakfast is delicious, with fresh local fruit and recipes; the rooms don't smell of strong cleaning chemicals; and the decor uses plenty of recycled wood. The toilet could use some improvement, though Henrique is working on it. The air is humid, so the sheets are breathable cotton, while the mattress and cushions aren't super fluffy because the materials need to resist mold. They were still very comfortable. The rooms also have working air conditioning and a fan. Getting to Boipeba from elsewhere means flying to Salvador de Bahía, then taking a car, cab, or flight to Valença. At the airport, people offer transfers, and I paid 130 reales, or 35€, per person to Valença. From there, you need a boat to the island. Make sure your transfer drops you at Graciosa, the boat stop, where the boat costs 9€. Once in Boipeba, ask around. The pousada is about three blocks from the boat station in an almost straight line, very easy to find. Henrique has a familiar story: he lived in a big city, got tired of the stress, and decided to move here. If you ask, he'll guide you to great boat trips, beach walks, and beautiful views. Don't miss this place!

Great location, a fresh and tasty breakfast, and a nice touch of nature with all the greenery. The room was really good too, with a little space out front.

The location is right in town, and the garden is gorgeous. Our room was clean and pleasant, and the staff were incredible.

Everything was really good. Getting around from the inn was easy, and Marcos and Tati gave us lots of helpful tips. The cleaning staff were very attentive, too. Breakfast could have had a few more choices, but that doesn't take away from the overall 10 out of 10. I think this is the best place to stay in Boipeba.
