Universo Pol Bamboo Hostel

The quiet spot in the forest was just what I wanted, even though it’s a little outside the center. The bamboo buildings have a lovely design, and you’re surrounded by birdsong. Breakfast was delicious, and Lucio and Nico were welcoming, helpful, kind, and easy to talk to. There’s a cute cat, too. I had a wonderful stay, but left a day early because the mosquitoes were having a feast on me. If they like you too and you’re staying in a dorm, bring a net and repellent.

We felt right in the jungle here, and this was easily our favorite place on the Brazil trip. The staff took time to go over the island map and suggest things to do, and even served breakfast early on our departure day so we wouldn’t travel hungry. The whole hostel was very clean, and the vegan breakfast was amazing 😍. Such a welcoming atmosphere. We can’t recommend it enough.

Amazing hostel, really nice place, super friendly staff, and the best breakfast! A tip if you get there late, after sunset: once Maps says you’ve arrived, keep walking down the lit path for another 5-10 minutes. It’s completely safe. Just follow the lights all the way to the end and you’ll reach the hostel.

We spent three nights in the Bungalow as a couple and had a really nice stay. The calm atmosphere was exactly what we wanted, and the staff were so friendly. Breakfast was all delicious homemade food. The place is about 15 minutes from the center, in the woods, so a taxi won’t drop you right at the entrance. You’ll be walking along an unpaved but well-lit road, and you may hear animals at night, so bring repellent. We were a bit sad not to spot any monkeys while we were there!
