The pools were decent, with different sizes and temperatures, outdoor showers and toilets nearby. Food was okay, and any prepaid-card balance left over was returned in cash. But getting anything to eat or drink meant queuing twice, first to top up a card at a counter behind what looked like bulletproof glass, then to order. I still don't understand why they don't charge extras to the wristband and settle the bill at checkout, since that's already an option for other extras. Towels can be rented for R$3, paid at checkout. The room felt average and worn, with old-looking furniture, awkwardly placed or unusable outlets, and the occasional cockroach. The bathroom was tiny, and you have to be very flexible to close the doors behind you. The sink and bathtub were in the room itself. There are a lot of restrictions. You can't bring food or snacks bought elsewhere onto the property, and reaching your room means taking a service elevator through a staff corridor with the laundry and kitchen. At checkout, the staff were rude again, and once you'd checked out you couldn't use the pool, have lunch, or get a drink. You basically had to leave at 11am. I felt like I was in prison much of the time. Nobody speaks English, and at check-in they hand you a wristband without explaining why, probably just as ID. The staff were very rude across the board. It's a strange, confusing place with unpleasant service and too many rules for a 4 star hotel.
