Pousada Malafaia

My stay wasn’t good at all. The owner barely knows how to welcome a guest. There wasn’t even water available to buy, which is the least an inn should offer. The place is far from Praia do Forte village and pretty much everything else, and getting a ride there is a nightmare. When I booked, I was told it’d be easy to get an Uber or a taxi, but that was a lie. The owner doesn’t even make an effort to help guests find a ride.

I was nervous after reading a negative TripAdvisor review, but checked other sites and thought the inn might surprise me. It did. The owner was very friendly and helpful, from my first message before the trip until I left. I found the price a little high, and there was no option to split it up since I stayed only one night. The inn is very simple, with suites that have a TV, air conditioning, a bed, and a minibar, just as shown in the photos, but it’s VERY comfortable. The outdoor area is simple and pleasant, and the pool area is really good. Breakfast was simple and good quality, and I loved it. There’s no buffet table. You sit down, and Nice, who works in the kitchen, brings everything to your table. There’s plenty: fresh bread, cheese, ham, cake (the chocolate sprinkle cake was delicious), fruit, couscous with sausage, cassava, scrambled eggs, milk, coffee, and juice. You can also pay R$15.00 per person to use the pool for the day without staying overnight. The only downside for me was that there’s no bathroom by the pool. I fell in love with Pousada Malafaia and will definitely come back.

The rooms are tidy, though there’s no hot water, and the breakfast is generous despite being disorganized and handled by just one staff member. The grounds are poorly maintained. The location is inconvenient because it’s far from Praia do Forte village. Despite what the person handling bookings said, there are very few Ubers around, and none at night. Taxi drivers charge a flat R$50 for the ride. I wouldn’t recommend it, especially at this price.

There’s no public transport, so don’t even consider going without a car. The place is far from the village, though the owner said it was nearby. Ubers don’t go to the inn, and there’s no restaurant, supermarket, or anything like that close by. I don’t recommend it.
