The setting is a big part of the appeal. The pousada sits below the road, with a wonderful view where you can watch clouds roll in across the distance and then reveal the hills again. The chalets are spaced apart, so there’s plenty of privacy, and the wooden and brick buildings make the place feel welcoming. It’s a little outside the center, but right on the access road. I’d rather spend a few minutes driving than take some of the dirt roads in other directions around Monte Verde. We’ve been to Monte Verde a few times, and our last two stays were here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with a bathtub and fireplace. Service is great, and breakfast alone is reason enough to return, with lots of choice and local items.

That afternoon tea after lunch is just perfect, and breakfast is something we really look forward to. There’s soft background music, fresh little biscuits, and the coffee is always hot. I have about three cups, haha. Everything feels romantic, pretty, private, and welcoming. We honestly don’t want to leave. Gustavo, the owner, is such a lovely person, and I could talk with him for hours. Benedita in the kitchen is a sweetheart too. Everyone is kind, the quality is great, and it’s an affordable place. I’m sure we’ll come back a thousand times. Totally worth it. ♥️
