Hotel Intercity Campinas

Terrible. Think twice before staying here. I paid R$ 770 for two nights by Pix. The machine didn't print a receipt, but the transfer went through. The receptionist said that usually gets reversed by the end of the day and asked me to pay again, so I did. The next day I saw the first payment hadn't been returned. At reception, she checked the machine's system, confirmed it had gone through and said she'd request a refund, which would take around 15 days. That seemed absurd since it was Pix, not a credit card. I also left a shoe at the hotel. The person checking the minibar remembered to charge me for everything I'd used at checkout, but didn't mention the shoe. When I contacted the hotel later, they said the person responsible for lost property wasn't there and they'd get back to me when possible. It feels like this hotel is happy to keep guests' belongings. Stay away from this awful place.

The location is excellent, and the rooms and service are excellent too. Reception staff were polite and helpful. The breakfast, though, was a problem: I saw a large fly on the glass yogurt containers while the staff talked loudly and seemed unconcerned about what was happening. The mozzarella and ham tasted sour and seemed expired, and the juices were warm. The bathroom toilet made a very loud noise when flushed. Aside from breakfast, I recommend the other services.

This isn't just a little bad, it's really bad. The last time I stayed here, a year ago, it was awful: no hot water, no internet, and especially no one around to help or fix anything. I came back now and it managed to beat my record for worst hotel I've stayed in. The big windows were on a low floor, and there was no blackout curtain, just a very see-through one. I didn't even bother complaining. I just needed somewhere that would remind me never to stay here again.

I'm writing this while waiting in the checkout line. At the 12:15 rush, with a huge queue, the employee went to lunch. When we asked other staff for help, they acted indifferent. Everyone seemed lost and unmotivated. All the employees came across as indifferent. The team needs training in basic kindness and customer service, and management, if there is a manager, isn't keeping things in order. The Mercure to Intercity brand change seems to have upset the staff, and guests are paying for it. It's sad to see this hotel like this. At breakfast, we waited about 15 minutes for a spoon and a bowl. There wasn't much choice, not even requeijão or cream cheese. The yogurt didn't come in individual pots like it usually does at good hotels. The scrambled eggs were oily and tasteless, and the cakes were awful, claggy and flavorless. On the night of the 15th, I asked to use the microwave to warm saline solution and a baby bottle, but was refused. They said the kitchen had closed. Couldn't an employee have gone in and heated it? Don't they have access? It was total neglect. If a guest has a baby who wakes during the night and needs the microwave, they can't get this basic service at a hotel that's supposedly high-end. Ridiculous. I've stayed with Intercity in several cities, and this is definitely the worst one.
