Hotel Flat Afonso Pena by FGibran

The room was spotless, and breakfast was wonderful. I stayed at the hotel for a course and was treated very well by everyone, from booking through checkout. Andréia at reception especially stood out for her hospitality. I'd recommend it and would definitely come back.

The building itself is in good shape and feels new, but the service was awful. I stayed two days and repeatedly asked for the room to be cleaned and tidied, yet it never happened. I also asked to have my uncomfortable pillow replaced and got no reply. During the night, heavy rain kept the metal side stairwell doors banging, which made it hard to sleep. The front desk staff blamed the rain instead of the night staff not going up to shut the doors. They’ve got a good hotel structure, but the service is terrible.

The breakfast was tasty and had plenty to choose from, and the daytime receptionists were fantastic. The night receptionist seemed unsure of what to do and took nearly 20 minutes to release my room, even though I’d already paid for the reservation and had stayed at the flat three days earlier, so they already had all my details. Otherwise, a very good stay.

I had a very good experience and found the hotel peaceful, with a great room and excellent service. Breakfast was exceptional too. The waiter in the breakfast restaurant deserves a mention: he was a model employee and clearly happy doing his job. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
