We stayed for three days last weekend and had a good experience, though it could have been better. The location worked well for us, with a market and pizzeria nearby. Rooms were clean, staff were helpful, and breakfast had a good selection. The room’s TV was a real disappointment: it wasn’t smart and only had open channels. We also couldn’t find instructions for using the gas shower and faucet, which would help guests who aren’t familiar with them. The service charge was presented at check-in as if it were required. It should have been offered as a suggestion, and we chose not to pay it.

The building has real potential. Its architecture is well organized and suits the style of the city, and the staff are helpful and do their best to provide good service. The rooms need a lot of maintenance, both to the furniture and the structure. The walls are thin, and the beds are very old, not just vintage. There was hair in the bathrooms, and the inn generally feels quite grimy and in need of care. Two outlets in our room were broken, and I noticed a few makeshift fixes. With proper upkeep, this could be excellent.

The location is convenient at the entrance to town, and getting by car to Capivari was easy. Reception was good, the man who helped us was polite, the kitchen staff were lovely, and everyone in town seemed friendly. Breakfast was nicely prepared, with breads and cakes, a sandwich press, juices, milk, and coffee. My husband and I stayed three days. The room and bathroom were clean, as was the minibar, and the shower worked well with hot and cold settings you could adjust yourself. Still, the room had a scratched wall, black marks on an armchair, stained sheets, and the extra blanket didn’t smell very fresh. The walls really are thin, too. We could hear the couple next door having fun, haha. I also missed having a small table in case we wanted to eat in the room. The garage is easy enough to enter but tricky to get out of, so the valet needs to be skilled or it could be a headache.

There are shops nearby, and the inn has an elevator, clean rooms, and good value for the price. Getting into the parking area is tight and takes a capable driver. The main letdown was breakfast. It’s served at 08:30, which is very late, especially in a tourist town where you want to make the most of the day. There’s only the basics, too. Still, if value for money is what you’re after, it’s a good option.
