Pousada Vilage Inn Capivari

The location is a real plus if you want to be near the tourist center, with Parque Capivari about a 15-minute walk away. Breakfast has plenty of options, while the afternoon tea is very basic and doesn't offer much variety. We found street parking easily, and only a few cars pass by each hour, but the rooms facing the street do get the noise. The parking lot itself is very cramped, with cars lined up behind one another. The room had no cooling air conditioning. It looked clean, the bathroom seemed clean, and the towels smelled fresh. The bedding didn't have that same clean smell, though only one blanket did, and we didn't see any dirt on the sheet. We paid for the double luxury room, five times its usual price, during New Year's, when it cost more than twice the normal price of the hotel's most expensive room. On arrival, our room hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests checked out, but fortunately another was available and they moved us right away. At those inflated rates it felt like paying five-star prices for a three-star room. At the regular price, I think it's good value.

The covered parking kept the car out of the rain, and the attentive staff helped make the stay memorable. The room was excellent too. You're close enough to walk into central Campos do Jordão in Capivari, but far enough away to avoid the noise there. The value is great, and the weekend afternoon tea, served from 4 to 6, was delicious and absolutely worth trying. I'd happily stay again.
