Estalagem Vila Suzana

The scenery and neighbourhood are lovely, and it’s a reasonable walk to the town centre. A beautiful, affordable place to stay.

We had a great breakfast and found the people there friendly. The place is clean, quiet, and I’d recommend it.

We couldn’t use the pool because it was extremely dirty. They only started cleaning it on Sunday morning, which gave us the impression that maintenance was being neglected. The breakfast was disappointing too: the basic bread was hard, some other items looked old, and there was cat hair near the food. We like animals and have pets ourselves, but food areas need proper care. A very gentle, apparently elderly Golden Retriever was lying in the way of guests, and we had to lift our baby’s stroller to get out of the breakfast room. The access ramp was in very poor condition. Even getting up it with a baby stroller was difficult, and I think it would be almost impossible for a wheelchair user to go up, with a risk of falling on the way down. In the bathroom, the toilet flush had almost no pressure, which made it difficult to use. There was visible dust in several places, and the property generally seemed unclean. We arrived after 9 p.m. with our one-month-old baby, but nobody was at reception at night. The key had been left inside the reception door, so we couldn’t get in and were left practically outside with a newborn. It was very uncomfortable and worrying. With these conditions and the lack of organization, we can’t recommend staying here, especially for anyone travelling with a baby or needing accessible facilities.

The location is really good, and the place is beautiful and peaceful, surrounded by nature. Just be aware that animals roam freely around the tables and rooms. There’s a cat that goes everywhere and will come into your room if you leave the door open, so the place is pet friendly.
