The rooms were cozy and very clean, and the location was great. Senhora Marize, who runs the inn, was attentive and always willing to help. We’ll definitely come back.

Our third-floor room was large, clean and had a rustic chalet feel. There’s no air conditioning, and insects can show up now and then because of all the trees and vegetation around. It’s near the center of Canela, and parking is available, though the walk felt a bit long for us with two children and all our things. The owner was very attentive and helpful, and took care of what we needed. We were happy with what we got for the price.

The outside looked lovely, but opening the door to the room was a shock. We had a terrible two days. I know the city had been dealing with 18 days of rain, but that doesn't explain how old everything felt. This wasn't a retro style, just old. There was no air conditioning, and they offered a fireplace, but charged for the wood. R$8 for a tiny basket that wouldn't keep it going all night felt absurd, especially in a cold, damp city. Yes, the daily rate was R$230, which may seem low, but in my opinion it wasn't worth even R$100. The photos look beautiful, but that's all they are. The shower, which is inexpensive to replace, was hanging from a cord, and the rusty minibar seemed dangerous. Couldn't it be replaced, or at least sanded and painted? The towels smelled horribly of mildew. The blankets were against a damp wall and had that same smell. In summer, they even rent you a fan. I hope they take a hard look at the place and renovate it. Even with the rainy weather, they could have washed those unbearable, musty towels before guests arrived.
