Casa da Villa Pousada

We arrived to find that Casa da Villa had no room for us, despite making our booking 16 days ahead and getting phone confirmation from the inn on check-in day. The owner handled it very coldly in person and said, without any regret, that “overbooking happens.” We’d chosen our destination and the inn for its location and other guests’ comments, so being turned away like that was a shock. Her son took us to another inn, where we had one of our best stays on the coast and received exceptionally warm attention, very different from Casa da Villa. Maybe we just hit an unusual day, given all the positive reviews, but we won’t return. We booked through a well-known worldwide accommodation site, and after I posted my review, I got an email saying the property had reported us as a no-show. That’s completely misleading: we showed up, were affected by overbooking, and were directed elsewhere. Respect and care for customers matter, especially when something goes wrong.
