Pousada Mangue Sereno

The birdsong each morning was such a treat, and staying at Mangue Sereno was a joy. It’s a wonderfully peaceful, private place tucked among the trees, with the feel of an oasis in the forest. The rooms are lovely and spaced apart, so you really feel on your own. My suite was comfortable, with a great bed, air conditioning, and a mosquito net. Some rooms also have a hot tub or private pool. The internet worked really well, which meant I could work without trouble. Breakfast was beautifully made, and Lu welcomed us so warmly. The location is quiet, and the whole place feels thoughtfully arranged. I’d happily recommend it.

The pool is the only real plus. The rooms are very basic and just so-so. For what they charge, this place isn’t worth it, especially when other pousadas in the area provide good service. The kitchen facilities stay locked all day, so guests can’t use the cutlery or even get hot water to make coffee. It feels like they’re skimping on staff, and the team is already very small for a place this size. The manager only responded to guests until 6 p.m.; messages sent later were answered the next day, leaving you to fend for yourself. It’s expensive and doesn’t make guests feel valued, just their money. I’d advise people to look for somewhere else.

This pousada is so beautiful, I could see myself living here. Everything is immaculate.
