Pousada Fazenda Veredas

Awesome.

Veredas was the standout for me. It’s the first waterfall on the trail, the tallest in Cavalcante, and the view is breathtaking. The other six waterfalls are lovely too, with some great swimming pools. I’d seen Santa Bárbara and Complexo canjica e águas lindas in the previous days, but Veredas and the other falls here still impressed me a lot. I paid R$ 75 for day use in September/25, without staying at the pousada. I thought it was good value, since a guide costing R$ 350-400 isn’t required in this case. I’d been hesitant because of several negative comments here, but I was surprised by how beautiful the waterfalls were. The bridges on the way to Veredas are nice and make access easier, even for older people and children. The trail gets rougher after the second waterfall. As others have mentioned, the map and signs aren’t very clear, but with basic trail sense you can reach all of them without much difficulty. There are signs at every junction, small and sometimes faded, but enough to point the way. Given the price without a guide and how close it is to Cavalcante, it’s well worth visiting.

The trails are worth it, especially for Cachoeira Veredas, one of the most beautiful waterfalls I’ve seen. There are several other good swimming spots along the trails too. We spent so long enjoying the ones we visited that we ran out of time for Toca da Onça and Véu de Noiva, so we’ll be back. One thing to watch is the trail signage. The map they give you at reception doesn’t exactly match the route, and we saw a couple who’d gotten lost. Still, it’s very much worth a visit.

We stayed for two days and really enjoyed the peace and quiet. The trails are great, the waterfalls beautiful, and the food was delicious. The parmegiana was a generous serving, and the prices were quite reasonable. The staff are very kind, and there are some lovely, gentle dogs around. Pay attention to the directions before setting off, especially if you choose a trail that’s farther away. Some signs are very faded and others are missing. We liked the place a lot.
