I was disappointed with the condition of the place. It was unattractive and poorly maintained, the access road had ruts, and the breakfast wasn’t tasty. At R$ 590 per night, it felt outrageous. Two weeks earlier in Maceió, I’d paid R$ 320 a night for a hotel with a wonderful oceanfront view. I’d imagined a romantic place in Chapada for the price, but that’s not what we found. We tried to cancel as soon as we arrived and were still going to be charged half a night. Honestly, in Europe, where I live, I stay in places 100 times better and cheaper.

We had a really good stay. The chalet was clean, tidy, and in great shape. It’s a good spot if you want some peace, with no trouble from noise or neighbors.

We really liked Jardim da Chapada. Zina was kind and lovely, and we were treated so well. Our clean chalet had two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom. Zina adjusted the breakfast to add or leave out things we asked for. It’s far from the center, tours, and shops, so having a car is important.

We ended our stay feeling scared and upset. A trip with lots of wonderful outings ended on a terrible note. We had a serious problem because of what we saw as negligence by the pousada management and owner, and we were threatened and intimidated by other guests. The rules say sound equipment isn’t allowed outside the accommodations at any time. But when we got back tired from an outing on Sunday afternoon, a group of about 20 people, adults and children, had reserved 5 chalets and taken over the leisure areas. It felt like a private country house rental, not a pousada. They played music very loudly, so loudly we couldn’t hear the TV inside our chalet. When I went to complain, the woman managing the place was already outside the chalet talking with some of the group. They said they wouldn’t stop the noise, insulted and threatened us, and one woman said she’d smash my face in if I didn’t shut up. We went back inside to stay safe, but the group kept taunting us, shouting, and playing music. The manager offered to move us to a cheaper unit that was still being finished and was farther from the leisure area, instead of enforcing the rules. We considered leaving and going back to Cuiabá early, since our flight was the next day. But it was already night, and the maps app showed heavy traffic on the highway because of a blockade, accidents, and high traffic volume. We accepted the move. As we left our chalet with our bags, the group kept threatening and mocking us. The owner was in the house at the back and didn’t step in. It seemed like she only cared about the money: 5 chalets earn more than one, so one unhappy guest was apparently acceptable, despite our right to quiet being written in the rules. If you’re going there for peace and quiet, know they may rent to groups who use the place like a private country house, leaving other guests to deal with parties. The chalets are old and in poor condition, with warped doors and windows and a bad smell from the bathroom drain. We also had ants because there was an anthill inside our chalet. A good point is the kitchen, which has a fridge, stove, and utensils. Breakfast was simple and had no variety; it was the same menu all 5 days, but it fed us well. The staff were friendly and helpful until the noise problem came up, and then they let us down. The location is far from the city center, so I wouldn’t recommend it if you don’t have a car. We were threatened and intimidated during our stay, and the experience left us upset. I’ve included a video where you can hear the noise inside our chalet.

Zina and Ione were so caring and always ready to help, and their hospitality made the whole stay special. We’ll miss this place. The pousada has 7 wooden chalets, each with two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and a veranda with a hammock and dining table. Breakfast is brought to the chalet. The location is excellent, close to the main attractions and the city center. It’s charming and welcoming, and we felt at home. 😍
