I booked for 30/01 to 04/01, but my mother became ill and was hospitalized from 30/01 to 31/01. Once I learned she’d be discharged on 31/01, I decided to go to Conservatória with my friend and my dog. We were assigned room seven. The person who greeted us didn’t ask if we needed help with our bags, just pointed out the amount due and showed us the room. I didn’t like the way we were treated, but let it go at the time. The most unpleasant and embarrassing part was the pet policy. The pousada says it accepts pets, but restricts where they can go so much that the dog had to be carried even through reception, because guests complain about animal hair. For breakfast, we were put at an outdoor stone table in the heat. We had to go inside to pick up what we wanted to eat, while people walking by on the street watched us. It was really uncomfortable. The restaurant has an enclosed veranda, but we weren’t allowed to eat there with our pet. Pets weren’t allowed at the barbecue area either, which was also the way to our room. The stairs made access difficult, and the internet didn’t work properly. The only person who treated us well was the employee Adriana. Arrogant? My dog is always on a leash! Everywhere I take him, I have a carrier and a leash. When a place says it’s pet friendly, I follow the rules, but there was no way to walk him on the ground, only carry him. He only goes to the bathroom outside. We left the room as we found it. So please accept criticism, because it’s meant to improve your service.

The pousada is excellent, breakfast is generous, and the staff are very polite. The downside is that it’s on a very steep, uneven street.

We stayed here 12 years ago, and nothing has changed. The TV is tiny, the bed squeaks, and the pillow is bad. It badly needs updating.
