I loved how easy it was to get around from this hostel, right in the heart of the city, and the place was spotless. There was service around the clock, and breakfast was served too. Laceiro, the owner, knows the region incredibly well and gave great advice. A very friendly place, and one of the best I've ever visited. I'd happily recommend staying here.

The location is handy for sights in the centro area, including Caixa da Água Velha and Centro Geodésico. It also feels far enough from them to be in a safe part of the city after dark. The hostel has a great atmosphere, stays clean, and serves an excellent breakfast for this price range.

Laercio is really friendly and knows a lot about the Pantanal. The hostel has been the best I've stayed at so far in Brazil, and the cost-benefit is excellent.

We had a brilliant trip and saw four jaguars, a huge highlight of our time in South America. Staying in Porto Jofre definitely seems to change your chances of seeing one from maybe to probably. Our tour went all the way there on the first day, then we spent two nights there and one night at lovely Pantanal range. Lars and Antonio guided us, Lars for three days and Antonio for one. This hostel is great for booking a Pantanal tour: you see the same animals as on a luxury trip without paying as much, and it felt like real value for money, not a rip-off. Lars owns the hostel and clearly enjoys helping people see the animals. I'd definitely recommend him and the trip. We stayed at the hostel for a few nights before the tour. July 2019.
