Master Flat Apart Hotel

The queen-size mattress was the only decent thing about this place. My apartment had no plates or glasses, there were no blankets, and the whole place smelled bad. The bathroom had leaks everywhere, and all the tiles were coming loose. It was poorly cleaned and seemed to have no competent management. Every day, the apart-hotel staff left dirty bed linens from all the other guests right in front of my room. The manager rarely showed up, and there seemed to be serious problems with how the hotel was run because the owner wasn’t keeping track of its daily operation. I’m sharing these issues here to warn others, and if possible, I’d recommend staying somewhere else.

The room felt fair for the price, and reception was helpful with good service. Parking was the weak point: there are lots of columns and the spaces only suit small cars, while maneuvering a larger vehicle could lead to damage. Right across from the flat, there’s a family café called Delicias de Madrid, with excellent service and a great menu.

We had to change rooms twice, and even then the apartment was dirty, with stains on the comforters and sheets. There was a condom in the bathroom drain, among other things. If you stay overnight here, bring your own bed and bath linens. The staff tried to be kind and help us, but management and the place itself didn’t make it easy. I can’t recommend it.

I booked through Booking, then the day before the stay I was told the price was more than double what I’d reserved. When I called the hotel, they said their system had been hacked and the stay prices changed. My credit card was hacked too, and then blocked after numerous online purchase attempts using my details. That left me scrambling to find somewhere else at the last minute. Worse, I couldn’t pick up the car I’d reserved because the rental company wouldn’t release it with my card blocked. In the end, I spent much more than I’d planned.
