Pousada Paraíso

Great.

A really bad experience. They gave me the nightly rate, but when I arrived there were extra charges for everything. When I questioned why I hadn’t been told, I got poor service and a rude response. I was told I should have asked whether there were extra fees for parking and paying by card. They also have a set checkout time, which nobody told me about.

This is my second time here. On my first visit I didn’t leave a review because I didn’t like room 456; this time I stayed in room 88 and loved the place. Everything was clean and cozy, the bed was comfortable, and it felt secure. The shower was wonderful, and there’s a number in the room to order a snack or a meal. The food is delicious, the portions are generous, it isn’t expensive, and there’s something for every taste. Netflix too. Excellent pousada.

The staff were nice, there were five of them if I remember right, but my stay at pousada paraíso was poor. Breakfast portions are limited, reception isn’t open around the clock, and nobody answers the phone. I stayed in two rooms, 11 and 07. The double bed in 11 had mold and dust mites, which I found very unhygienic. There’s no water filter anywhere, so if you forget to refill the bottle in the room’s minibar, you’ll be thirsty. People who booked through booking.com and arrived there were shocked. It literally looks like a strange business mixed in with someone’s home, and the pousada has no facade. For a place that’s been operating for six years and reports at least 130,000 in revenue, it’s pretty weak.
