The staff were amazing, so friendly, and breakfast and afternoon tea were great. It’s in a great spot, with an easy walk to a lovely beach. I hope I can come back someday.

Leticia helped me figure out what to do and get the most out of my time on the island. The breakfast was incredibly good, and Emily is an amazing cook. I also met some great people at the hostel. Highly recommend!!!

I was so happy I ended up staying here by accident. Leticia went above and beyond, and everyone treated me with so much warmth and kindness. People like her are bright stars who help me shine while I travel. The amazing breakfast was a surprise, along with lots of other things I got to experience on the island. It’s a friendly, social hostel and guest house, with a nice back terrace and TV area. The staff only speak Portuguese, with no English spoken, and the WiFi is decent. I didn’t stay in a private room, though those looked nice. I was in the shared 10-bed bunk room. It’s small, and when it’s full, sleeping there isn’t fun or easy. With only a few people or when empty, it’s ok. The shared bathroom has two showers and one toilet for 10 beds, and it was only cleaned once a day, so it got very dirty with everyone sharing. Mosqitoes are everywhere, so bring repellent. There’s no breakfast included, which makes a $35 USD hostel bed poor value. It’s about a 30-minute walk to Vila Remedios, the main town, and Praia Cachorro, with bus and taxi options too. Praia da Conceição is a 20-minute walk away. Mercadinho Boldro, a small mini-market for beer, water, and snacks, is about 10 minutes on foot. My favorite restaurants were O Pico, Xica da Silva, and Cacimba. The island is expensive, so plan your budget. It’s beautiful and worth the trip!
