It was okay.

The bedding was dirty, which was completely unacceptable. The shower also didn't work, so I couldn't even have a proper bath. My stay at this pousada was very negative from the moment I arrived. The TV wasn't working, water was dripping into the room, and cleaning was poor, with several areas looking dirty. In general, the place seemed short on maintenance, hygiene, and care for guests. I don't recommend it, and hope they make urgent improvements.

We were an excursion group, and at checkout the owner made jokes about charging us for two extra nights because we were two minutes late. That was unpleasant, especially since most of the group were elderly people who aren't as quick as younger guests. I wouldn't recommend staying at Pousada da Jo. They need to improve both the property and the way they treat customers. When we arrived, there was no reception, and we had to look around for someone to tell us which room we were assigned. A young man came out after we knocked on a room, introduced himself as Jo and the owner, then put us in one of the available rooms. The bed was a box base for a double bed with two single mattresses pushed together. There was an awful gap in the middle, and both mattresses were black with mold and in bad condition. The TV wouldn't turn on. The air conditioner only cooled the room, and its remote didn't work. In the bathroom, the sink was nearly falling off the wall. The shower had no warm setting, just scorching hot or freezing cold. The sheets were stained, so I used my own bedding because I wasn't comfortable with what was on the bed. I also brought and used my own towel because theirs were stained. There wasn't even a towel for the bathroom sink, so I was glad I'd brought one. Breakfast was limited: a dish of pizza bread that was salty, some salty little pies, one per person since there were eight of us, a small amount of papaya and melon, a cake, very sweet juice, and coffee. There was no option for scrambled eggs, tapioca, or couscous. There wasn't any water either, so you had to bring your own or go without. There was only one plate per guest. Some older people in our group needed extra plates to keep their fruit separate from the other food, so as the youngest guest I went to the kitchen to wash plates and help them.
