Pousada da Carmô

A top pousada.

The location worked well, with a great market close by, and the pool was nice to come back to after being out. The room for four, where we stayed from 25/12-30/12 with three adults and one child, turned out fine despite being a concern at first. João was very friendly, as were the other women on staff. The place was adequate since we spent most of our time away, but I wouldn't stay again. There were a few issues. The bathroom needed more attention to cleaning, and the extra beds were soft. Breakfast was modest but honest. On our second day, an employee got sick and breakfast wasn't available. Nobody told us, so we went on an outing without eating. I tried contacting the people in charge several times and only heard back hours later. They resolved it by refunding the cost and offering afternoon coffee as an apology.

Nora was polite and helpful, and the complimentary afternoon coffee was very good. The pousada is simple but cozy, and it suited us perfectly during our stay. Breakfast was good too. I'd definitely recommend it.

We've stayed here twice, and the team has been great each time. The pousada is simple, but the service and location are fantastic. Breakfast and afternoon coffee are both delicious. It's close to everything, with the central beaches and some of the best restaurants within easy walking distance.
