I’m still upset about how Pousada do Bita handled our cancellation. My boyfriend and I had planned a baby moon, but I cancelled 10 days before the trip because of the widely known Zika outbreak in Brazil and the risk of microcephaly for babies born to pregnant women. The World Health Organization had warned pregnant women not to travel to the area and advised women in Brazil to postpone conceiving. I wasn’t going to risk my child’s health. Every airline and the other pousada refunded us. Pousada do Bita first promised to return our money, then changed its position and cited laws in Fernando de Noronha. This was a public health emergency outside anyone’s control, and I feel exceptions should have been made for pregnant women and their partners. Rosangela Lima and owner Maria promised the refund, then backed away from it. I’ve been trying to resolve this for two months of my pregnancy, and the whole experience has left me bitter. I found the response disappointing and lacking compassion or flexibility. I wouldn’t recommend this place. It made me feel the people in charge weren’t prepared to deal with a complicated situation or considerate of the people affected by it.

The staff were especially kind, and the location made it easy to get around on foot. Breakfast was simple, fresh, and tasty. The bed was comfortable, the linens were clean and smelled nice, and the minibar and air conditioning were good. The shower was good too, and the bathroom was a decent size, though the room and the space around the bed felt cramped. There’s no hair dryer at the pousada, which was inconvenient when we washed our hair late. I bought a small dual-voltage one to bring. There’s nobody at reception, though that seems to be how all the pousadas in Noronha work.

We had such lovely days at Pousada do Bita in Fernando de Noronha. The staff were attentive, we felt so welcome, and breakfast was wonderful. The location is great too. I have nothing to complain about, just thanks for the stay. I hope to come back soon!

The staff were so friendly, polite, and thoughtful, and the cleaning was impeccable. The towels and bedding were clean, well kept, and smelled fresh. The air conditioning was excellent. Breakfast was simple but enough for a good meal, with fresh food every day. The location is excellent for getting around on foot. I’d recommend the pousada and would stay again when I can.
