Teju-Açu Eco Pousada

The restaurant, which is what I'm reviewing, is fantastic, one of the most delicious on the island. It's ideal for Europeans too. The cocktails are creative and delicious, though not strong. Most of all, the staff are incredibly friendly and kind. We came twice without staying at the hotel, and they treated us so nicely and made room for us. We loved it.

I tried one of the specials, colossal shrimp with mushroom risotto and grilled pineapple topped with pancetta. It was delicious! The traditional Caipirinhas were the best I've ever had, and I've had plenty. It's a bit pricier than a typical island restaurant, but the meals were excellent and the service was great. My wife is vegan, and when she asked what she could eat, they brought her a separate menu with about eight options. It had recently been put together for a group who visited the week before, and they said they'd probably keep some of those dishes on the menu permanently.

Victor, thanks so much for being such a gracious host, and compliments to the chef too. I wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant for its vegan and vegetarian options. Keep adding more like that! And d'artagnan is adorable.

The breakfast is superb, and after a day at the beach the little pool is a lovely place to unwind. Pousada Teju-Açu feels like a peaceful hideaway tucked into wild forest. The rooms are very comfortable, with care put into the details, and the staff are wonderful: they learn your name, help with whatever you need, and make getting around the island easier. A really amazing place.
