Pousada Recanto da Vévé

Fantastic.

I liked staying at Vevé’s inn, especially being right across from the sea. It’s a lovely spot, and I’d like to return. The room itself was very simple, but the people there were kind. I’d left my silver necklace on the bed, and the owner kept it safe and returned it when she came to Fortaleza, so I went to pick it up. They also treated my husband to a complimentary cake.

It’s a simple, rustic inn, and being right on the sand in front of the sea is its best feature. Getting there over the sand can be tricky, and people often get their cars stuck. When the place is full, there aren’t enough parking spaces for everyone. The rooms are small, the air conditioning doesn’t cool well, and the shower is weak. Breakfast is fine but basic, with few choices. Service could be better overall. I’ve seen groups come and sort of take over the inn, which seems to make the stay more pleasant.

The natural beauty of Flecheiras is lovely, but my stay at Vevé’s inn was a complete mess. I’d paid for two suites facing the sea, even though the inn doesn’t actually have two suites with that view. When we arrived, the caretaker didn’t know which room to put us in because another group had already taken what was supposed to be our accommodation. I had two small children with me, and the disorganization was extreme. When I contacted Vevé, she said the only suites left were the ones available and that if I didn’t like it, I could leave. A few things to know: at breakfast, sit at the table near the kitchen or you may be left with whatever food is still available. If you want lunch, ask about it at breakfast, since they can’t prepare it for more than six people. And be careful driving in if your car is small. The access is awful. Mine is a 4x4, but I saw several cars stuck in the sand.
